Her Honor, George C Armstrong! Initially, George and Marley were well taken care of, but things started to go downhill. Both birds were kept in a small cage together and fed a diet that is all too typical; mainly consisting of peanuts, sunflower seeds and dried peppers. A diet readily available in many pet stores and while it is quite inexpensive, it also lacks any real nutrition. Both birds reeked of cigarette smoke and it wasn't until after a dozen or so baths that they were rid of their noxious smell.
George came in with Marley, a Blue & Gold macaw. They are a bonded pair and must go to a home together. George (now called Georgie by the volunteers, as she is a girl!) enjoys hanging like a bat from the top of her cage. She loves apples, oranges, pecans and being misted. Among her vocalizations are “Hi George,” “Hi, Marley,” “Hi, Bird” and “Goodbye.”
