Marley's Story

parrot adoption

Breed: Blue and Gold Macaw

Gender: Female

Adopted: March 6, 2011

Marley and Georgie came together to the Refuge. Marley is the more reserved of the two, but is very loving. Both birds remain very handleable despite the fact that they are so bonded. At times it seems like she’s the brawn of the pair; but in actuality, she is not.

Marley is a big girl and likes to intimidate you at first, but when you get past that, she is your friend. She loves to be misted and has grown out of her plucking habit---she has perfect feathering. She might be better with men, but doesn’t seem to have a real preference. Marley loves big chewable wood toys and can say “Hello,” “Bye,” “Hi George!”, and “Hi, Marley!”

On Sunday, March 6, 2011, Marley went to live with her new family! Her dad told us that as soon as he got her home and put her into her new cage, she immediately started eating and playing with her new toys. While we are sad to see Marley leave the Refuge, we are all thrilled that she's found a loving home. We wish Marley and her new family many years of happiness!!!
