This day was created to encourage pet adoptions and to spread awareness about animal welfare. One simple act of kindness can make a huge difference in a pet’s life. Not only do you have the possibility to change a pet’s life, but your life may be changed as well!
October is National Animal Safety and Protection Month. We believe parrots are part of the family. Protecting the safety of your parrot is a pet parent’s main responsibility. National Animal Safety and Prevention Month is a wonderful opportunity to remind people of the importance of animals in our everyday lives and to make sure that they are treated kindly with the respect and care they deserve.
National Animal Safety and Protection month was created by the PALS Foundation, an organization dedicated to helping animals and people coexist.
A Refuge for Saving the Wildlife is excited to announce its first Rescue the Birds Calendar for 2017. Your entries and votes for the Rescue the Birds 2017 Calendar Photo Contest supports A Refuge for Saving the Wildlife and counts you among an amazingly caring network of people who have supported our work to save countless parrots throughout the years. Your votes and photo donations will be used to help the homeless parrots in our care until we find them a forever home. A Refuge for Saving the Wildlife is an IRS-designated 501(c)(3) charity, making all donations tax deductible.
National Pet Day, April 11, was founded in 2006 by Pet & Family Lifestyle Expert, Animal Welfare Advocate Colleen Paige, to celebrate the joy pets bring to our lives and to create public awareness about the plight of many different kinds of animals awaiting a forever home in shelters and rescues all around the globe. But how do you celebrate a day like this?
Celebrate a Good Cause
This would be a great day to dedicate some of your time to a local shelter in need of volunteers. Contact your local shelters to find out what their current needs may be, and help them out. Share what you did with others to bring awareness to pet adoption and the number of animals living in shelters in need of a home.
Healthy & Varied Diet
Providing a healthy and varied diet for your parrot is extremely important. Not only do they need seeds and pellets, but they also require plenty of vegetables and fruit. Be sure to avoid harmful foods that may be toxic to your parrot.
