Well, hello there! My name is Daisy and I'm an adorable little diva. I came to the Refuge all the way from Michigan and traveled on Rich's shoulder the whole way home. It took me all of about 2 minutes to win Rich over - it must be my charm.
Since being at the Refuge, I had the opportunity to be fostered by one of our volunteers. I was told daily how much I'm loved, what a good girl I am and of course, how sweet and adorable I am. I taught my foster mommy a lot about what it's like to live with a cockatoo. She learned that I don't particularly enjoy playing with traditional wooden bird toys. I prefer human "toys". Remote controls and computer keyboards are a favorite. My foster mommy even brought home old keyboards from work so that I could have fun pulling off all the keys. She would put them back on for me, but I was always quicker at pulling them off than she was at putting them back on. Haha.
My most favorite treat in the world is almonds. My foster mommy taught me how to wave, turn around and step up on cue, using bits of almonds as treats. That was fun. I LOVE to take baths, but only when I'm in the mood. My preferred bathing method is in the sink, with the water running down my back. I like to jump out, climb up to your shoulder, share some water with you and then go right back into the sink. I also enjoy getting blow dried when I'm all done with my bath.
I'm a Goffin's cockatoo and as such, I have endless amounts of energy. I'm always busy doing something and require a lot of supervision if I'm outside of my cage. If you're out of my line of sight, don't be surprised if I fly through your house until I find you! If you're looking for a faithful companion, please contact the Refuge to see about coming to meet me.
Lots of love!
Daisy
