Do you ship birds?

We do not ship any birds, as this is highly stressful for the bird and costly. In addition, part of the adoption process is a home inspection, so it is necessary that you live within a reasonable driving distance. Further, it is necessary that you meet the bird prior to our decision to adopt to you. This way we know the bird will like you and you will like the bird. There are no exceptions to this policy.

How much does a bird cost?

We charge a fee to adopt a bird. This fee is based upon the vet costs we have incurred for the bird, the cost of rescue, and other costs associated with the rehabilitation of the bird. There is a great deal of time, money, sweat, blood, and tears that go into the rehabilitation of many of our birds. Because of the considerable effort it takes to find these birds forever homes, it often results in costly veterinary bills. We do not list our fees on our website because we base each bird's fee on the costs we have incurred. Please do not call and ask for the prices of our birds. Our adoption process tries to match the bird with your family and not to place a bird based upon its adoption fee. Once approved for adoption, you will know all the costs involved in adopting a specific bird.

I would like to re-home my parrot. What do I do?

The best possible option is for your parrot to stay with you. There are many resources available that could help you address medical or behavioral challenges. If your bird has a behavioral problem that is causing you to want to relinquish, please contact us. We will try to help with the problem. We want nothing more than to help you keep your feathered companion!

How old do I have to be to volunteer?

All volunteer applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Can I come see the birds before completing the application process?

Unfortunately, no, this is not how our process works. Once you complete the application process, we will invite you to meet selected birds that have the greatest chance at a successful placement for you and your family.
