Rocky

Hi! My name is Rocky and I'm a big Moluccan Cockatoo.

I've had a bit of a rough life. I had a mom who loved me very much, but she passed away. Her sister tried to care for me, but I got overly excited and bit her and then she put me into a small room and never let me out of my cage. I don't like to dwell on this time in my life though, so let's focus on my current life.

I really enjoy life at the Refuge. I have quite a few human friends and they give me really good head rubs. I'll sit still for hours if you give me head rubs. I especially like women and am quite a flirt. I'm a big talker and while I sometimes talk too fast for people to understand me, I always know what I'm saying. I absolutely love big boxes to play in. They provide me with a sense of security as well as a fun chewing opportunity.

About a year ago, I had the opportunity to be fostered by one of my favorite volunteers. While her life didn't lend itself towards adopting a Moluccan Cockatoo, I sure had lots of fun with her while I stayed at her house. I also surprised her, and everyone else, by proving that I can actually fly. What can I say? I'm full of surprises!

Do you think you'd like to get to know me? If so, please contact the Refuge to learn more. Thanks for stopping by!

Love,
Rocky

Our Mission is Simple

To work in joint cooperation with all avian rescue groups to try and eliminate the need for rescue groups by educating the public about aviculture issues. Until that is accomplished, we will provide a sanctuary for those unfortunate parrots that are in need of a home.
