  6. Sammie

Sammie

Sammie is a spunky girl who has already gone through two adoptions through the Refuge, but was returned by one home due to financial difficulty and the second home because they were not quite ready to share their home with a cockatoo.

Don't be put off by this as she is one of the sweetest birds at the Refuge and will drink water from a water bottle by removing the top and tilting it for herself. She loves pasta, apples, and oranges, and being sprayed with an aloe/water mix makes her squeal with joy. Wood toys are a passion of hers, and Sammie’s time at her last home enabled her to become very friendly with children. She makes lots of “happy noises” when excited, and loves lots of attention.

Our Mission is Simple

To work in joint cooperation with all avian rescue groups to try and eliminate the need for rescue groups by educating the public about aviculture issues. Until that is accomplished, we will provide a sanctuary for those unfortunate parrots that are in need of a home.
