Hawk
I was instantly taken in by how unique Hawk looks. He is an extremely good looking bird with an awesome personality to boot. He wants to be loved and will seek it out if the participant is willing. He is tolerant with the children and loves my husband. He loves me too, especially around breakfast and dinner!
The adoption process was amazing! I really felt like I was adopting a child. It made me realize that Hawk and my Quaker, Pauly are really my adopted children. Karen and Rich are so knowledgeable and helped me not only with questions pertaining to Hawk but also with my Quaker, Pauly, whom I found outside 8 years ago. I feel like I have not only found a companion bird, but also new "bird friends" in Karen and Rich.

Hawk's story is one all too familiar to the Refuge. His Dad got divorced and things were good for a while. His Dad fell in love and it was soon realized that Hawk was not destined to remain in his home he has had for the first 5 years of his life. His Dad loved him dearly, but sorrowfully relinquished Hawk to the Refuge.
Hawk’s personality is so big it makes him seem like a macaw, instead of a lorikeet. He lost his right eye to glaucoma, but that doesn’t prevent him from living out a normal lory lifestyle. He adores his little tent and has a thing for people who wear gym shoes.
