Mango has been adopted. We shall keep you posted!
Mango and Frankie just came to the Refuge on 11/14. He is also Male, in great condition and immediately went for a short flight when we put some new toys in his cage. He seems to prefer women.
Update from Mango’s foster mom - March 3, 2008: Mango is brave and sweet, a delightful bird. Sitting on my forearm with his back against my body is his favorite perch from which to survey the world. He also loves to cuddle there and have his head stroked.:
He has become very trusting of me to the point where I can pick him up across his back, or turn him upside down in my palm. He has learned four tricks—wave, shake, turn, and deposit water bottle caps in a cup. He enjoys “showtime.”
Mango needs to be supervised—he loves to chew on zippers (which he can and will destroy), wires and cables, staples, paper clips—in short, any non-bird approved metal.
He has an adorable robot voice and says hi Mango, hi Frankie, hi birdies, bye birdies, hi guys, and gimme a kiss. He also makes a boo-doop that sounds exactly like a cell phone battery running down.
Frankie and Mango will preen and feed one another sometimes but don’t seem to be attached to one another.
